Deciding ahead of time that you’ll going to practice a new habit every day can be of great benefit in establishing it as a habit. If you decide up front that this will be something you will do every day, no exceptions, you no longer have to have the ongoing debate of whether you feel like practicing today.

For instance, saying, “I will write every day,” instead of “I’ll write more frequently,” frees you up from the daily debate of whether you’re going to write or not. You’ve already decided you will; now it’s just a matter of what to write about.
