It’s been said that success today can often be the greatest enemy of success tomorrow. Meaning, success can sometimes breed pride or complacency, which, left unchecked, can become our undoing down the road.
If we’re caught up in our own success, we many not realize when the dynamics of the situation change. We just assume that what was successful in the past will be successful in the future. Or, we fail to do due diligence because we think too highly of ourselves and forget that we too can make mistakes. Or, we stop growing, because we no longer feel a need to.
We can certainly learn from the past—and should—but must be wary of resting on it. Every day is a new day. Yesterday’s success doesn’t guarantee anything today.
