The time change this morning got me thinking about the different ways we respond to changes in life we cannot control.
One typical response is to complain about the change, and to be miserable for a while as we adapt. Now, unlike some changes, the time change itself was a scheduled event, meaning it should not have come as a surprise. Yet it can still be tempting to complain, even though there was opportunity to prepare.
On the other hand, a different response would be to embrace the reality of the change and try to make the best of it, regardless of whether we like it or not. This kind of perspective stems from realizing that it’s pointless to complain about things that are out of our control.
Changes in life will take place, and unlike the one this morning, many are not marked on the calendar ahead of time. The challenge is how will we respond when they arrive, because they will be coming, whether we like it or not.
