One hundred days ago I started this blog. The goal wasn’t to write well, or to write much, but merely to write—and to do so consistently. And today marks the one hundredth consecutive day of doing so.
No, I haven’t posted masterpieces of well-written prose. But that wasn’t the goal. Instead, I’ve been learning how to stick with something that I wanted to do, and to do so for more than a few days or a couple weeks.
The process has taught me much about the value of focus, as well as the benefits of starting small. When I started out, I wasn’t thinking about what I would be writing 100 days in the future. I was only focused on posting something that day. And as each day passed, sitting down to write became more and more of a habit.
So, just as I asked in my first post 100 days ago, is there something you’ve been meaning to do, but just haven’t gotten around to? If so, now’s the perfect time to get started. Focus on taking one step at a time, one day at a time, and just see what happens. The journey may surprise you.
