There’s a difference between knowing about something, and actually acting upon that knowledge. We could learn all kinds of important information about our craft, or about conflict management, or about nutrition, but if this knowledge doesn’t affect our work, or our relationships, or our diet, what have we gained?
Growing in knowledge and understanding is valuable, but only to the extent that we put this knowledge into action. We could get the best advice in the world from friends and colleagues, but unless we act on this knowledge, it doesn’t do us any good. Although we can mistake learning for doing, in the end, they’re not the same.
