How do you view work? Not just your job, but work in general?
Some people see work as a curse—as something to be avoided, or at best, something to be endured. But I don’t. I choose to see it as a gift.
Work is the opportunity to create something new, or to bring order to something that already exists. It’s the opportunity to marshall our mental and physical resources in order to fulfill a purpose. And when we’re able to engage in the work we’re doing with energy and creativity, it ceases to be a drudgery.
For those who see work as meaningless, yes, it may seem like a curse. But there are few things more satisfying that putting in a good day’s work, whatever that work may be—to be able to walk away and know that you were able to use your mind or your body to make or to fix or to serve. And it’s in those moment we realize that work is far from a curse—it’s actually a gift.
