Sometimes just sitting down and coming up with a plan can do wonders for your state of mind.
Perhaps you’ve experienced this—I know I have. I’ll have some things on my mind, and the simple act of sitting down and putting together a basic plan of what needs to be done next, immediately changes everything. Even if I don’t do anything else beyond just taking a minute to clarify the next steps to take, I find that that alone helps put my mind at ease about those things that I had been thinking about, which in turn allows me to better focus on whatever I’m doing in the present moment.
So the next time you’ve got a lot on your mind, try taking a moment to come up with a basic plan of action. What are the very next things that need to be done? When do they need to be done? And who needs to do them? Asking these simple questions is huge because doing so can help us gain clarity on what actually needs to happen. And it’s this clarity, along with the knowledge that we now have a plan in place, that can both calm and energize us for whatever we’ve determined needs to be done.
