How many things that we encounter in life do we discount or ignore because of other things we already hold dear?

For example, If I love certain foods I may be less likely to adopt certain diets that limit or prohibit these things I enjoy, not because of evidence or reason, but because of a desire to hold onto things that bring some kind of pleasure. And this same kind of thing can happen in all areas of life.

But the thing to remember is that sometimes it’s in holding on to the things in our lives we think will bring pleasure that we pass over or reject other things that would actually bring greater joy in the long run.
