Whatever I do today is going to become easier to do tomorrow. Not that I’ll necessarily enjoy doing it any more, but in time it will become easier. And this can happen with good things, bad things, and everything in between.
Will I choose to exercise? Will I choose to have that extra slice of pie? Will I hit the snooze button again? How will I respond to the guy who cuts me off in traffic, or makes a biting remark? Whatever I choose, it’s going to be a little easier to do the same thing tomorrow. And if I do it again tomorrow, it will be a little easer the day after that.
What we do—our actions—create habits, and habits cause us to do things instinctively. So whether I desire to start a new habit, or want to reinforce an existing one, the fact remains that today matters.
Putting off something today isn’t going to make it easier tomorrow—in fact, it will just make it easier to put it off again.
