With leadership comes responsibility.

A lot of people may want to be the leader because of the recognition or authority that it entails. But how many truly want to also bear the weight of responsibility that being a leader brings? When you are the leader, no longer are you accountable solely for your own actions, but also for the results of the team.

If we’re leading others, understanding that the decisions we make affect far more than ourselves, and that we’re responsible for the outcomes, can be a sobering realization. But it’s this realization that also helps us make better choices in our words and our actions.

Good leaders realize that responsibility comes along with influence. And instead of shrinking back from that responsibility, they allow this reality to inform the decisions they make.
