Trust and doubt don’t have to be mutually exclusive—we can often have a mix of the two simultaneously.

So how do we know where we are on the spectrum in a given situation? The prime indicator is simply our actions themselves. We can say we trust someone, but if our actions speak otherwise, perhaps we have more doubts than we’d like to admit—or are even aware of. Or perhaps we say we don’t believe something, or don’t trust someone, yet we continue to act in a way that makes it seems as if we do.

We may have good reasons for trusting or doubting, but regardless of what we say, ultimately it’s our actions that most clearly demonstrate where we’re at.
