Boring people get bored. –Ruth Burke

I heard someone reference the above quote recently and it got me thinking. Life is so full of things to do, to think about, to explore. So what does it says about us if we get bored easily?

Now, on one hand, I understand how some situations may seem boring—some mandatory meetings or presentations, for instance. But even in those edge cases, where we have limited options of what we can do, there are still opportunities. We can practice being present and actively listening. We can even analyze the experience and come up with lessons we can learn, including things ‘not to do’ if we’re ever leading the meeting.

Even in the cases where the external situation isn’t exactly like we’d prefer, we still have a choice of how ‘bored’ we will be. And for me, life’s too short to simply kill time being ‘bored.’
