I’ve heard it said that you shouldn’t believe everything you think—and there’s a good reason why.

Just because a thought crosses our mind doesn’t make it true. But if we begin to believe these things that aren’t true, it’s only a matter of time before they start to affect our attitude and actions. Perhaps they’re found in how we think about ourselves (whether good or bad), or what we think about others. Maybe in how we view the world, or how we think about our future.

The problem is not the thoughts themselves, but what we do with them. Thoughts—lots of them—are bound to come. The challenge is to filter which ones are based in reality and which ones are not—which ones we should hold onto, and which ones we should let float on by.
