There’s an old saying, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. We could have the greatest teacher right in front of us, but unless we’re ready to listen, we could still miss out on what they have to share.

It’s like a teenager who thinks he knows so much more than his parents, and so he never listens to them. But then later, as he grows older, realizes that his parents actually knew a thing or two about life, and he suddenly grows more willing to listen to what they have to say. He ends up asking for advice from the people he once ignored. And it was all because of a change of perspective.

We have teachers all around us—and not all of them are people. Even the situations we experience throughout the day can teach us a great deal. But if there’s no desire to learn from them, we might pass right by and never see what they have to offer. However, if we’re eager and ready to learn, then even the most normal events of the day can teach us valuable lessons.

Life is full of things to learn. The question is, are we ready?
