It’s that time of year again where the trees are starting to bud, and ones that were bare just weeks ago have recently burst forth with color. The tree in my back yard, for instance, went from nothing to a sea of white blossoms in what seemed like an instant. And every time I see it, I’m stunned by how beautiful it is.

But now, after a few days, the sea of white is turning green, and the beautiful sight of yesterday is quickly disappearing. Now, trees filled with green leaves are beautiful too — don’t get me wrong — it’s just different.

All of this has served as a reminder to learn to enjoy the beauty of the moment in that moment. The beauty of today soon fades. That doesn’t mean there won’t be beauty to be found tomorrow. There will be. But it will be different. Which means if there’s beauty to be noticed and enjoyed today, we should do so while we still have a chance.
