When faced with a decision, do you tend to focus more on what could go wrong, or what could go right?
For some people, it’s easy to go straight to the worst case scenario. And although it’s important to not be oblivious to potential issues, focusing only on the downside can also be a problem. It can cause us to worry needlessly about things that never take place. It can cause us to pass up good opportunities because there’s a chance they may not work out.
One simple way to deal with this is to intentionally consider the best case scenario too — what would it look like if everything went right? Because sometimes things do. And catching a glimpse of these possibilities, not just the potential problems, can keep us from being paralyzed by fear of all the things that may never happen anyway.
